Compared to twenty or thirty years ago, our workplaces and cities are far more international. Tezukayama Global Academy was founded in 2017 to meet the needs of our times, develop global leaders who learn from history and act with confidence, and support families navigating an increasingly global society.
There are many forms of places where children of the same age spend their time, such as daycare centers, kindergartens, and Kodomo-en. Since our establishment, TGAP has exceeded its boundaries, clarifying the purpose of early childhood education, and valuing education well-connected to elementary school.
TGAP offers education in which children actively think, select, and act based on the social norms presented by their teachers and the experience of spending time with teachers as role models. And of course, TGAP education is always centered on Montessori education from Italy.
"We discovered that education is not something which the teacher does, but that it is a natural process which develops spontaneously in the human being."
— Dr. Maria Montessori (Montessori Method)
Dr. Maria Montessori believed children learn from birth without constant instruction. Teachers prepare the environment; children choose work, repeat it, and celebrate "I did it myself"—building personality and the foundation for global citizenship.
At TGAP, students build leadership skills from a global perspective in a bilingual environment where English supports rich academic content—not language study alone. Strong language foundations carry into confident elementary learning.
TGAP is among the few schools that give each child an iPad and integrate ICT thoughtfully. With teachers and families from many countries, we balance group learning with respect for each child's individuality.
I hope our graduates will contribute to global society—and that through education, we can help build a more peaceful world.
