Sports

Physical education is one of the defining strengths of life at TGA. Through structured sports lessons and specialist gymnastics, children build strong bodies, disciplined habits, and the confidence to try new challenges—alongside their Montessori learning.

Physical education

Sports Programme

We believe movement and academics grow together. When children run, climb, fence, or stretch on apparatus, they are developing focus, resilience, teamwork, and body awareness that carry back into the classroom.

Our sports programme rotates through the week so children experience many disciplines across the year. Sessions are purposeful and age-appropriate, with clear instruction, safety first, and room for joy and healthy competition.

Sports Programme

  • Table tennis
  • Climbing
  • Soccer
  • Fencing
  • Badminton
  • Handball
  • Volleyball

Our sports instructor

Led by a former national fencer

Sports lessons at TGA are taught by a member of our teaching team who competed at national and international level in fencing—bringing elite athletic experience directly into every session.

From footwork and balance to strategy and discipline, our instructor draws on years of high-level competition to lead sports lessons across the programme. Children learn correct technique, safe warm-ups, how to win and lose graciously, and how to keep improving through steady practice.

  • Former national-level fencer with international competitive experience
  • Patient, technical instruction adapted to each child's age and readiness

More than fitness

Sports at TGA teach perseverance, cooperation, and self-control. Children learn to set goals, support teammates, recover from setbacks, and take pride in effort—qualities that matter long after a game or relay has finished.

Healthy bodies, focused minds

Children who move well concentrate better, approach challenges with more confidence, and build habits for lifelong wellbeing. Sports and gymnastics are a core part of TGA's whole-child programme—not an optional extra.

Specialist programme

Gymnastics

Alongside our sports programme, children take part in dedicated gymnastics sessions led by a visiting specialist. Apparatus work builds core strength, flexibility, balance, and spatial awareness through a carefully structured progression.

Lessons take place in our gymnasium with professional equipment. Children warm up together, practise fundamental shapes and movements, and build confidence on apparatus at their own pace—with close supervision and spotting when needed.

Activities are adapted for toddlers through Children's House, with simpler balances and cooperative games for younger children and more challenging apparatus work as strength and coordination develop.

Gymnastics

  • Horizontal bar work for upper-body strength and controlled movement

  • Trampoline sessions for jumps, landings, and body awareness

  • Stretching, rolling, and balance activities on mats and foam equipment

  • Group sequences that build confidence, listening, and cooperation

Sports and gymnastics rotate through the week alongside other specialty classes. Families receive the current timetable from the office.
