Daily Life

Every school day begins with the same calm, Montessori-led rhythm—but what fills the hours changes from day to day as specialty classes, group activities, and outdoor time rotate through the week.

Care of self

Learning everyday independence

At TGA, children learn to manage everyday needs on their own—with teachers gently guiding them along the way. Changing clothes, getting their meals, and washing their dishes are part of the daily routine, not tasks done for them. This Montessori approach builds confidence, coordination, and a genuine sense of capability that carries into every part of school life.

Every day

How the day flows

The steps below are an example of our usual rhythm—not a fixed timetable. The order and length of each block changes from day to day and by age group.

  1. Arrival & welcome

Children greet teachers and friends, change into their indoor clothes and shoes—with gentle guidance when needed—and transition calmly into the classroom.

  2. Montessori work cycle

Extended, uninterrupted time for self-chosen activities—Practical Life, language, math, and sensorial work at each child's pace.

  3. Snack & group time

Shared snack, songs, stories, or circle activities that build community and language in both English and Japanese.

  4. Outdoor Exploration

Fresh air and hands-on exploration in safe outdoor spaces—supporting curiosity, confidence, and a connection with the natural world.

  5. Sports & physical activity

Structured sports sessions rotate through the week—table tennis, climbing, soccer, fencing, badminton, handball, and volleyball—building fitness, coordination, teamwork, and discipline. Sessions are led by a member of our teaching team who is a former national fencer.

  6. Lunch & rest

Children help set the table, serve their meals, and wash their dishes—with teachers showing each step patiently. Nutritious lunch together is followed by quiet rest or nap time for younger children who need it.

  7. Montessori work cycle

Extended, uninterrupted time for self-chosen activities—Practical Life, language, math, and sensorial work at each child's pace.

  8. Afternoon enrichment & dismissal

The afternoon may include a specialty class—such as Calligraphy, Music, Gymnastics, Sports, or World Art—alongside creative projects and continued Montessori work before a calm goodbye.

Through the week

What changes through the week

Our weekly program is rich and varied. Rather than the same lesson every day, specialty classes rotate across the week so children experience a wide range of subjects within a familiar daily structure.

The exact day and time for each class depends on age group and term. Families receive the current timetable from the office.

Every day constant

What stays the same every day

A predictable rhythm

Arrival, work cycles, meals, outdoor time, and rest follow a steady pattern—so children feel secure even when the day's specialty class or schedule shifts.

Bilingual immersion

English and Japanese are woven naturally into conversation, songs, and daily routines—not only during formal lessons.

Balance & wellbeing

Focused work, active play, rest, and social time are balanced so children stay engaged without feeling rushed.

Everyday independence

From changing clothes to clearing meals, children do everyday tasks themselves—with teachers offering kind, patient guidance rather than doing it for them.

Each day's program is planned individually. Extended childcare is available on weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. For the latest timetable and enrolment details, please contact the office.
